Rick Whorwood's Fly Casting
School

I purchased my first fly rod and reel in
the summer of 1972. That summer I made multiple trips to the Saugeen River
near Durham Ontario. As I persevered I became increasingly disappointed with
my casting. Frustrated, I would invariably relinquish my fly rod and replace
it with spinning gear. I believe for all my effort, I caught a creek chub.
It got to the point where I pretty well gave up. In the late 70's and early
80's I got the bug again. With renewed determination, my goal was to catch
fish on a fly. Researching the subject through books and magazines convinced
me that if I wanted to progress, I needed direct help. Taking a lesson from
a reputable instructor resulted in remarkable improvement. In only a few
short hours, I was ready to hit the river and catch fish. The lesson was my
turning point! Since then, I have continued to learn and practice the art of
fly casting. Passion and effort have helped me achieve the 3 FFF casting
instructor certifications. This and years of teaching have honed my teaching
skills. If you want to become a better fly caster, whether with a single
hand, or two handed fly rod, I can help.
